Brothers Igor (23) and Artūrs (25) decided to realize a long-cherished dream, which on the level of fantasy has definitely been considered by almost each of us – they decided to spend autumn, winter and spring in the open air. Already a day after the spontaneous idea, the guys were on their way to a place of interest, which was located 25 kilometers from Daugavpils. It was their new location for the next five months, which was also visited by photographer Reinis Fyodorov .

Since there were many stones in the area and living in a tent would be too extreme, the brothers decided in favor of making a stone building. Artūrs, who is a carpenter by profession, works as a roofer, but Igors helps him. Since the roofer’s work is seasonal, Arthur makes no secret of the fact that he spends the rest of his time doing unrelated things: ‘Last year I played online poker at the computer all winter. The funniest thing is that I spent as many hours at the computer as traveling to the buildings. ‘

Although both do not lack construction skills, building a stone house is a big challenge – even after several months of hard work, up to 10 hours a day, the construction of the building is not completed. But Artūrs points out that time is a fictional concept: ‘Here we do not count time, so it does not exist at all.’

Sergei, a friend of both brothers, describes them as very friendly and helpful. Sergei says of the unusual idea: ‘I think they rather wanted to do something together. Do something great with your own hands. ‘

The floor of the stone house is located 1.2 meters below the ground, thus making the room much more spacious and allowing Artūrs to build a bed for himself at the ceiling.

The camp is built in an abandoned gravel quarry, surrounded on both sides by sand ramparts, thus protecting it from the wind and unwanted attention.
